My first blog post

Welcome to the bRokEn TypEwritTeR, my writer's blog. No doubt the items posted here will be a bit sporadic, as there is more to my life than just writing! However, I hope that this site will be enjoyable to all who visit.

Why is this a "writer's blog"? Well, because I'm a writer, heehee. As yet unpublished, but I'm working on that. I write police procedural mystery novels, and I'm a member of Crime Writers of Canada. When I'm wearing one of my other hats, I write about the oil and gas industry in northeastern British Columbia, and earlier in life I was a newspaper reporter, but due to family comittments, I've opted for the fun career of raising our children and writing mystery novels in my spare time.

In 2007, my first novel, Cold Cuts, received an Honourable Mention at the CWC's Arthur Ellis Awards, in the category of Best Unpublished First Crime Novel. I've entered again in the 2008 awards, so we'll see how that goes.

Thanks for reading my introductory post!
